Today we started off after breakfast by walking over to Central Park Zoo, it’s a nice walk and we enjoyed spotting all the dogs and wildlife.
We
had pre booked timed tickets for the zoo and we got there 10 minutes before
opening to be first in line.
Central
Park zoo as a really nice small zoo, a good mix of animals and the perfect size
to maintain interest of younger kids who might get bored at bigger zoos. Our
favourites were the tropical zone polar zone, Dylan made friends with a puffin
and they gazed lovingly at each other nose to beak though the glass for a
little while.
We
did the 4d movie which is included in the ticket price, it is a fun short movie
that kids really seemed to enjoy. The children's zoo next door was fun for
feeding the goats and sheep.
After
the zoo we walked semi-aimlessly through the park occasionally glancing at my
phone to see which sights were nearby as we walked.
When
the heat got too much we went down to union square and the forbidden planet
store with my son while my wife shopped in Nordstrom Rack.
We
regrouped, wallets lighter and bags heavier then walked over to Washington square park, it’s a really nice
place to sit and people watch spoiled only by the smell of weed, I’m not sure
what variety is smoked over here but it is really offensive on the nose!
It had been a long day and Nina and Dylan decided to stay in and have an early night while i went to the DUMBO area to take some pictures of the sunset.
